AI Career Lens is operated as an independent online service. When we say "we," "us," or "our," we mean the operator of AI Career Lens. For data protection purposes, we act as the data controller for the personal information we collect through this service.

What We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

• Interview responses — your answers about your career journey, work patterns, strengths, and professional context
• Email address — if you choose to save your progress or receive your report
• Usage data — session identifiers, timestamps, and step progress (no IP addresses or device fingerprints are stored)
• Payment records — transaction status for report purchases (payment details are processed by our payment provider, not stored by us)

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process your personal data on the following legal bases:

• Contract performance — processing your interview data to generate and deliver your career insight report
• Legitimate interest — maintaining service quality, preventing abuse, and improving the analysis
• Consent — sending transactional emails (magic links, report delivery) to the email address you provide

How We Use Your Information

• Generate your personalized career insight report
• Send you a magic link to resume your interview session
• Deliver your completed report via email
• Maintain and improve the quality of our analysis

We do not use your data for marketing, advertising, or profiling purposes. We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties.

AI Processing and Data Transfers

Your interview responses are processed by AI language models provided by OpenAI (based in the United States) to generate career analysis and insights. This means your data is transferred to and processed in the United States.

OpenAI processes data under their API data usage policy, which states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as the legal mechanism for this international data transfer.

Your data is not used to train any AI models — neither ours nor our providers'.

Data Storage and Retention

Your interview data and generated reports are stored securely in our database, hosted within the European Union. We retain your data for as long as needed to deliver your report and allow you to access it. Inactive session data is automatically purged after 12 months.

Contact form messages are retained for up to 90 days and then deleted. Security event logs are retained for up to 30 days for abuse prevention purposes.

You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing us.

Cookies and Tracking

We use a small number of cookies that are strictly necessary for the application to function. These are not used for advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking.

• Session cookie — stores a signed reference to your interview session so you can navigate the site and return to your analysis without re-authenticating on every page
• Admin session cookie — used only by administrators to access the internal dashboard (not set for regular users)

These cookies are set only after you authenticate via a magic link. They do not contain your email, interview answers, or any personal content. No cookies are set for visitors who have not authenticated. We do not use third-party advertising trackers, analytics cookies, or any technology that identifies or profiles individual users across websites.

Your Rights

Under applicable data protection law (including GDPR), you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
• Erasure — request deletion of your personal data
• Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Complaint — lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

Children

AI Career Lens is designed for working professionals. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the application or via email if you have provided one. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
